MORE ABOUT OUR SCUBA EXCURSIONS:
Jim began diving in 1987 receiving an Open Water and Advance Open Water certification. Using these he began his Northeast wreck diving career. After graduating from college in 1989 he was able to start dive traveling (one benefit of having a full time job) and expanded his area to the entire east coast, from Maine to Key West and the Caribbean, eventually ending up at his ultimate destination, Truk Lagoon.
Expanding his wreck diving experience just wasn’t enough so Jim began expanding his diving education. Eventually he received certifications in Complete Safe Air Diver, Technical Safe Air Diver, Advanced Nitrox Diver, Extended Range Diver and Trimix Diver. With this education and his wreck diving experience he was ready to advance to the DEEP technical wrecks of the Northeast, the Andrea Doria, Carolina and Republic are just a few.
In 1999 when his good friend Capt. Nick Caruso took command of the OL’ Salty II, Jim signed on as a diving mate and the ship’s welder creating the most user friendly dive ladder in the industry. Eventually Jim was promoted to the ship’s engineer as more and more stainless steel fabrication and modification were made and installed to make the OL’ Salty II the premier dive vessel it is today.
Captain Jim holds a 100 ton Master U.S. Coast Guard License and performs positions of back-up captain, ships engineer and welder.
From the newest and first time customers to the long time customers, Jim’s goal is to make everyone’s experience aboard the OL’ Salty II the best and better from the last. So welcome aboard, dive safe, have fun and come back soon.
